If you have been reading all the staff reviews on our website, you may have seen “Patrick Ness” pop up several times...all attached to my reviews. Why? Because I am obsessed with his writing. He crafts stories so delicately that the reader can’t help but be pulled in.
Here’s an example from his newest title, Release:
“Nevertheless, she had, in that way of hers, turned it into a decree: he would get the flowers or he wouldn’t go tonight, especially after that girl got killed.”
Don’t worry, I didn’t spoil anything for you, that’s how he ended the first page. Right away I am roped into the story! His characters have a very unique voice, each one completely different from its predecessor. This book was released in Europe months ago, and since then I have been tapping my foot just waiting for it to be available in the U.S. This story is told within the span of one day, and as I understand it, also ties in some sort of ghost story. Ness is an incredibly unique and creative writer who never fails to impress me as a reader. Needless to say, I bought it the day it was Release-d.
