Banned Books Week Begins
Saturday, September 25, 2010, 7:00 - 10:00 PMJoin us for a fun-filled night of Banned Books Bingo and Banned Books Trivia. We will also have delicious snacks, a reading of the Banned Books Week proclamation, and special announcements regarding the rest of our Banned Books Week events.
From the ALA: Banned Books Week is an annual event, hosted by the American Library Asociation, celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Banned Books Week highlights the importance of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States.

Banned Books Week First Amendment Rights and Censorship Panel
Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 7:00 - 9:00 PMThis will be a great night featuring three great guests: Christy Hargesheimer, board member for Amnesty International Nebraska, Pat Leach, director of Lincoln City Libraries, and Amy Miller, Legal Director for Nebraska ACLU. We will be discussing the importance of our First Amendment Rights, the negative aspects of censorship and persecuted authors from around the world. Stick around afterward for a great Q&A session.
Banned Books Week Art Night

Each of their pieces reflect their favorite banned books from classics to contemporaries. Come out on Friday, October 1, to meet the artists and discuss their pieces with them.
